In Phase 3 (Years 7–8), teachers support students to: engage in intentional technological practice. Students develop knowledge of design briefs, specifications, constraints, and frameworks, and use these to generate, model, test, and refine outcomes. They strengthen their identity as emerging technologists and innovators by evaluating impacts and responding to authentic challenges. Students engage with different perspectives and contexts, consider consequences, and explore the question, ‘We can do this, but should we?’ Through this, they learn to balance function, aesthetics, and impacts when making informed design decisions.
